Bernardo Heights Country Club held its senior men’s golf championship in mid-August. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was divided by age into four flights. The championship winner, who earned the best gross score between all the flights, was Poway’s Todd Roberts. Roberts scored 143. Last year’s winner, Rancho Bernardo resident John Price, came in second with a gross score of 149. Norm Hamlin of Scripps Ranch posted the best net score of 140.

The winners for the age 55-63 flight were Roberts (143 gross) and Vince Castro of Poway (143 net). The 64-68 winners were Price (149 gross) and Peter Epstine of Escondido (144 net). The 69-72 winners were Joe McAtee of Poway (162 gross) and Hamlin (140 net). Finally, the 73 and up winners were Ernie Hoffman of Poway (168 gross) and Jin Soo Yoon of Rancho Bernardo (141 net).
