The Friends of the Rancho Bernardo Library are proud to present a number of entertaining concerts this fall. The 22nd Chamber and Jazz Concerts series kicks off on Sept. 25 with the Westwind Brass, currently in residence at San Diego State University. Westwind Brass will perform a range of works from Baroque to jazz. The program continues with cellist Chia-Ling Chen and harpsichordist Takae Ohnishi, performing two of Bach’s viola de gamba sonatas. All concerts are on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.
Other chamber and jazz concerts this season will include Duality, Blurring the Edges, the Orvieto Trio, the Leucadia Trio, Ines Irawati, and Courtly Noyse.
The Friends’ Discovery Concert Series also returns this year, with the first show of the season on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. The theme is Music: The Universal Language, and will feature three pianists presenting music from Mexico, China, Japan, and Brazil. Anna Louisa Vidales, Naomi Hobbs, and Vania Pimentel are all members of the Claiver Piano Club of San Diego County. Discovery Concerts aim to educate the public about a broad variety of music, as well as providing opportunities for local musicians to perform and share insights to their music.
