Community members are invited to attend the 2019 National Night Out event on Aug. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the San Diego Police Department Northeastern Division Station, 13396 Salmon River Rd. The event will include various booths set up for kid’s activities, child fingerprinting with photos, entertainment, snacks, and safety information; station tours; and SDPD SWAT, SDPD K9, and other SDPD representatives in attendance.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide with block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and other community events on the first Tuesday every August. Residents throughout San Diego are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening with neighbors and first responders. Learn more at natw.org.
