The 2018 Festival Orchestra concert series with Artistic Director and Conductor Alyze Dreiling kicks off at 4 pm Sunday, June 24, at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. The concert features San Diego favorite Harold Reeves performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. “Harold Reeves knows how to bring a crowd to its feet,” according to a music critic at the San Diego Union Tribune. Beethoven’s Egmont Overture opens the concert, followed by the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Beethoven’s cheerful and lighthearted Symphony No 8 fills the second half of the concert. Suggested donation for the concert is $10.

Other Summer Festival Orchestra concerts will be at the Center for the Arts Escondido on July 8 featuring Yuval Yaron on violin and July 15, presenting Angel Romero on guitar with Rodrigo’s Concerto de Aranjuez.

The Festival Orchestra is a summer music program of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO). The YPO is dedicated to enhancing the musical, social and intellectual growth of young musicians of all ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds, through inspired instruction, dynamic ensemble rehearsals and exceptional performances.  For more info on YPO music programs, please visit
