cm_garden2The Bernardo Gardeners Club will hold its Spring Garden Tour on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The self-guided tour features five local gardens in the RB and Poway areas, plant and craft sales, master gardener experts, and complimentary refreshments. The first garden features a new home on an original winery property with lush hillside landscaping, mountain views, a rose garden, and fruit orchard. The second garden is a riparian woodland that uses trees, shrubs, and flowers to offer respite from the Southern California heat. The third cottage garden showcases vintage wagons, a flagstone path, shaded seating, and spring fountains. The owner of the fourth garden turned it into a xeriscape oasis with an array of succulents, cacti, and tropical plants. The final garden was completely transformed into a colorful and dramatic drought-tolerant landscape, spotted with pottery and stone statuary as well as a 50-foot putting green in the backyard.

Funds raised will support Gardeners Club projects in the local community. Tickets are available at Walter Andersen Nursery in Poway, by mail, at www.bernardogardeners.org, or by calling 858-432-4060.
