The Poway Symphonette will present music from their upcoming China tour at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Rancho Bernardo Library. Led by Artistic Director Ulli Reiner, they will perform the Mo Li Hua folk song (Jasmine Flower) for string orchestra. They will also play the Concerto Grosso Opus 6, No 9 by Corelli, prelude No 1 in C Major by JS Bach, and Concerto Grosso in D minor, No. 11, Op. 3 by Vivaldi.

The Poway Symphonette is a chamber orchestra that is run through the Poway Adult School, specializing in Baroque and classical music. They have been invited to accompany a traditional Mongolian choir this summer in performances at Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai.

“We’re really excited,” said Reiner, “especially to be invited and to accompany the Mongolian choir. This will be a preview of that show.”

The performance will be in the Rancho Bernardo Library Community Room, 17110 Bernardo Center Dr. This new concert series was created to expand the opportunity for talented area musicians to perform in public. Many of the programs will be enhanced by music educators who will offer insights into the music, the composers and the performers. All Discovery Concert performances are free to the public and open to all ages.
