Support Veterans and Active Duty Military at the Team RWB RBHS Challenge
Team Red, White, and Blue
Join Team RWB on the track at Rancho Bernardo High School (RBHS) on May 30 for the 4th Annual Team RWB RBHS Challenge. The challenge is an opportunity to support American veterans and welcome them back into the community after service. The event lasts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is a 12-hour relay run for teams of 12 – though participants are welcome to stay for however long or short a time they’re able to, and smaller teams are also able to participate. Participants can run, walk, or even swim in the adjacent pool. Volunteers are also welcome to help run the event in various roles, and community members can also attend simply to take in the festivities.
The day begins with the ceremonial first lap, with honorary team captains leading all participants and community members in a group lap around the track. The community marks the course with 100 large American flags. At the end of the day, another group run completes the final lap and collects the flags.
Team RWB especially invites veterans and their families, high school students, and survivors of deceased veterans and first-responders. Civilian participants can register for a $15 donation, and veterans or active duty military can register for $10.
The RBHS connection to Team RWB is year-round. One football game a season is dedicated to the organization. Event Organizer Kathleen Kennedy shared, “The football team has also adopted a veteran blinded by an IED who lives in Escondido. The team visits his home and helps provide hard labor to fix up his yard during the summer.” Learn more at www.teamrwbrbhschallenge.com.
