The Rancho Bernardo Historical Society’s Speakers Series will present a free program highlighting the history of North San Diego’s inland communities on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. at the History Museum in the Bernardo Winery.

Speaker Vincent Rossi will talk about events and personalities in communities including Escondido, San Marcos, Valley Center and Vista, at a time when the livestock population literally outnumbered the humans. Rossi is an author and lecturer who has written three books on San Diego County history. He also writes a weekly blog, San Diego History Seeker. He and his wife Peggy, a genealogical researcher, own StorySeekers, a research and publishing company specializing in family history, memoir, and historical books.

The Historical Society has scheduled free educational programs, which include noted authorities in and around our community, on the third Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. in the Rancho Bernardo Museum at 13330 Paseo del Verano Norte. For more information visit
