Study after study has shown the importance of having close confidants outside of the family – for our health and sanity. Linked Lives, winner of the 2014 Beverly Hills International Book Award, published by Wizard of Words and available in paperback and e-book format on, is a memoir encapsulating the vital importance of nurturing friendships and helping one another through many of life’s challenges. This story takes readers on a forty-year journey, with two women facing incredible adversity, poverty, family struggles, losses through illness and death as well as betrayals in love. Their linked lives create a rock-solid friendship. This story deeply touches anyone who has ever had a best friend.

“Competition was fierce. Often finalists were selected by extremely narrow margins and many great books could not be chosen,” said Debra Gaynor, CEO of Readers’ Favorite. “It was an extremely competitive year and selections were hard earned.”

Winners will be announced on Sept. 1, 2014. For more information about the awards and a list of finalists visit
