92128 Resident Organizes Fashion Show for Charity

Linda Van Vark, a 92128 resident for forty-five years, havs been president of Globe Guilders auxiliary since 2011. Created in 1955 to support the Old Globe’s artistic and education programs, Linda leads a dynamic group of San Diego women and devotes her time to the Old Globe and the Guilders’ mission.

As president, Linda’s plate is pretty full. She serves on the board of the Old Globe Theatre, leads the Globe Guilders Executive and Steering committees, and raises awareness and funding for the theatre’s artistic, educational and community outreach programs. But one of Linda’s many, and favorite, duties is to organize the annual Celebrating Couture Fashion Show. This year marks their twenty-fourth year of the fashion show, and it remains to be one of their top fundraising events of the year. In partnership with Neiman Marcus, and with fashion provided by famous couture designer Naeem Khan, attendees can enjoy a night of fashion, food, and fun.

“The fashions are spectacular. Some ladies really go all out! It’s very rewarding to see so many ladies and gentleman come out to support the Old Globe Theatre,” Linda remarked.

The Celebrating Couture Fashion Show 2014 will be held at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel on May 9. The event opens with a champagne reception at 10 a.m. and includes silent and live auctions, followed by a lunch that culminates with the fashion show, presented by designer Naeem Khan. View his collections at www.naeemkhan.com.

Reservations can be made by phone at 619-889-7121 or online at www.globeguilders.org/fashionshow. Tickets start at $115, including a champagne reception, lunch and the fashion show.

Linda references her mother as the inspiration for her active work with the Globe Guilders. “She spoke so enthusiastically about the Old Globe Theatre, it inspired me to get involved. I grew up going to Balboa Park and the Old Globe Theatre – I want it to be around forever.”
