Honorary Mayor of Rancho Bernardo, Alex Monroe Makes it His Mission to Stay Involved
Alex Monroe was raised in North County, so he is no stranger to San Diego. But after being away for some time (he and his family have just recently relocated to Solana Beach from Santa Fe, NM) he has a newfound appreciation for the city he grew up in. Now, as he takes on his new role as Honorary Mayor of Rancho Bernardo, Monroe’s passion to keep his community thriving is stronger than ever.
Monroe and his wife have two children, Jack (5) and Emerson (3), with another baby boy due this spring. The family has resided in Solana Beach for the last 2 ½ years, and although they love the area, they are looking to relocate to Rancho Bernardo or 4S Ranch for the sake of Monroe’s job. “As Honorary Mayor of Rancho Bernardo, I serve as an ambassador for the community. I will be welcoming new businesses, speaking at different events within the community, and promoting Rancho Bernardo as a place to live and work,” he shared.
Monroe – who graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics and Government – works hard to maintain a connection with his community. “There are two groups that I am very active with outside of work: the first is the Rancho Bernardo Business Association,” stated Monroe. “I am also a member of the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club. I enjoy participating in community service projects and Rotary is an amazing organization to belong to.” As a staunch believer in supporting education Monroe also volunteers with the San Diego Literacy Council. “It is an amazing organization that helps individuals from young to old develops their reading skills,” he explained.
When asked what the most rewarding part about his involvement with the community, Monroe replied: “It is absolutely the people. There are so many unique and incredible individuals in Rancho Bernardo. I encourage everybody to take time to really get to know one another and you will discover some amazing stories.”[box title=”Meet Alex” box_color=”#7db73e”]
