A Message from Harvey Levine, Concerts Program Director:

Dear Music Lovers,

We’ve been waiting for this one. A performance, right here in Rancho Bernardo, by acclaimed violinist and San Diego Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster, Jeff Thayer.

Performing with Jeff will be popular pianist Ines Irawati and special guest Julie Thayer on French horn. Ines is a favorite choice of a number of area musicians as a piano partner. In fact, three different groups have chosen to team with Ines at the RB Library this season alone.

Wednesday, April 24 | 6:30 p.m.
We have been fortunate to have many of the San Diego Symphony musicians perform for us at the Library. Jeff Thayer, as the leader of the orchestra’s string sections, is one of the finest musicians in the country and has certainly played a big role in developing the SDSO into a top-rated U.S. orchestra. You’ll also be treated to the luxurious sound of Jeff’s 1708 Stradivarius, on loan from the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Family Trust. This is also another chance to hear the classical masterpiece: Brahms Horn Trio. This was performed for us last year by SDSO Principal horn, Ben Jaber. The program includes: Beethoven Sonata No. 6 for Piano & Violin, Opus 39, No.1; Brahms Trio for Piano, Violin and Horn, Opus 40; Sarasate Introduction and Tarantella, Opus 43.

Wednesday, May 22 | 6:30 p.m.

Return of one of our favorite string quartets, the Highland String Quartet, from Orange County. The concerts will be in the Community Room on the 2nd floor of the Rancho Bernardo Library. Admission to the concerts is free and tickets are not required; the cost of the musicians is covered by your donations. The programs start at 6:30 p.m. and finish by 7:45 p.m.
